Valpantena and Villa Arvedi

Clear resurgences and a wonderful 17th century villa

Easy path in Valpantena, in the surroundings of Verona, by the crystal waters of the resurgences of Montorio, riding among vineyards and fields with a guided visit to Villa Arvedi of Cuzzano.

The round trip starts from the Verona’s city centre and develops in Valpantena, a wide valley east of the city (part of the enological district of Valpolicella wines). Outside the residential area, fields, vineyards and olive trees, especially on the hills. We will ride on bike paths along a pleasant area with resurgences, with calm and clear waters; on the hill, the castle of Montorio watches over the valley. The tour will then take us to the premises of Villa Balladoro Malfatti at the edge of a large basin. Then, we will visit the wonderful Villa Arvedi, located in a very evocative landscape: at the feet of the hill, surrounded by a wide fenced garden with vines and olive trees. After the visit we will enjoy a refreshing picnic on the grass, under the shade of olive trees. A last, relaxing wall in the Italian gardens and then we will head back to the city along a bike path by the Progno Valpantena.

Villa Arvedi in Cuzzano was registered at the property of Mastino, Alberto and Cangrande della Scala, the lords of Verona, since 1200. The current Villa Arvedi dates back to mid 17th century, and it is made of different buildings, including a nice little church. In the main building, the Titans Room, decorated with astonishing frescoes, watching over the valley and two different gardens, one of which is a solemn Italian style garden with three centuries old boxes.
