Dolomites: Trek and Bike
Walking around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and biking from Calalzo to Dobbiaco
This tour is a three-days full immersion in the amazing landscapes of the Dolomites. The first and the last day are dedicated to the bike tracking a bike path in wide alpine valleys at the foot of the most beautiful mountains of the Dolomites. The second day we walk an easy but unique trekking: the ring of the Tre Cime of the Dolomites.
The bike trail runs mostly on bike path. The first part tracks the old railway Calalzo-Cortina-Dobbiaco, which has been renovated and transformed into a bike path: the Long Way of the Dolomites.
The wider and wider landscape is on the lovely Dolomites of Cadore. The town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, the pearl of the Dolomites, lies in the large alpine valley of Boite, which is the first city we go through. It is surrounded by the marvelous Dolomites of Cadore. We will often stop along the way and look and appreciate them: Tofane, Pomagognon, Cristallo, Faloria, Sorapiss, Becco di Mezzodì, Croda da Lago and Cinque Torri. With Cortina behind us, still tracking down the old railway, we enter the Natural Park of the Dolomites of Ampezzo. At the end we will bike on a nice dirt road. Our path goes through forests to Cimabanche, the highest point of the railway, from where we go down as far as the crossroads for Misurina. To here we go smoothly but regularly uphill, with a gradient of about 3%. To finally reach the beautiful Misurina Lake we will have to bike uphill on large hairpin turns for the last 6 km. This last climb can be avoided: the bus is at disposal for who prefers to skip the effort.
The second day we will reach the Auronzo hut by bus. The bravest participants can bike this path: 600 meters height difference in 7,5 km. We will then start walking from the hut for an easy trekking along the 101 path which heads to the Lavaredo hut. We will later continue to the foot of Paterno Mount and reach the Antonio Locatelli hut, where the panorama above the Tre Cime di Lavaredo is most spectacular. Very beautiful is also the group of Dolomites of Sesto: Croda Rossa, Cima Dodici, Cima Undici, Cima Una, We will then walk further to the pass of Col di Mezzo. From here we can admire Cadini, Sorapis and Cristallo. From there we walk back to the Auronzo hut, and then go by bus to Misurina.
The third day is the second bike part: we will go downhill from Misurina lake, to the bike path along the Landro valley, and to Dobbiaco. With the old railway behind us, we will reach Brunico in the lovely Val Pusteria.
UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Dolomites.

HOW TO BOOK
This trip has already been tested and can be adapted to small or bigger groups. We propose guided tours leaded by our guides who speak english, german, french, spanish and portuguese. We can provide this trip also without leaders as long as the group can follow the tracks using a gps since itineraries develop on broads that are not always easy to find.
(*) On demand we can also provide other services as, for instance, a bus following the group or electric bikes and much more. Big groups are kindly invited to book in advance.

Tour description: The tour combines biking and trekking. By bike we are on bike paths, with only some stretches on secondary roads with low or rarely medium car traffic. The road bank is asphalt or we will be pedaling on nice dirt roads; only a short stretch in Landro Valley is a bit annoying. The path goes mostly (but smoothly) uphill in the first part of the tour, with the exception of the final climb up to Misurina Lake. The second day of bike we will bike downhill or up and down.
