Langhe: unique flavors

Smooth hills with vineyards, hazel trees and truffles

The undulated tour brings the participants to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Piedmont in the North-West of Italy. The starting point for the tour is Alba, the home country of the truffles and the base of Ferrero, world famous Italian confectionary factory.

Along the romantic road of the Langhe, from the suggestive balconies, we can admire the surroundings, which leave us out of breath: silent parades of hills covered up with vineyards, with different colors in every season. In front of us there will be all the nuances of bright green. Vineyards alternate with the trees of Langhe round hazel. We will find ancient castles and medieval towers on the hills close to tiny villages.

During our tour we will visit the Serralunga 14th century castle, medieval stronghold with a slender gothic structure, an architectural challenge for that time, and the strong Grinzane Cavour castle. From the lovely grass around the palace, we will be able to admire with 360° view the Barolo vineyards all around.

In Barbaresco we climb on the high tower to look at the Tanaro valley, and in the tiny village of Neive we will go round and round till the top.

Tasting some precious typical recipes we will complete our exploration of the Langhe area, which is rightly proud of its unique flavors: the DOP cheese, the hazel in the chocolate or in the nougat, the truffles and the delicious and important red wines.

We dedicate a particular care to the wine, which is probably the most relevant expression of the Langhe region. We visit the Monsordo-Bernardina estate of the Ceretto family. The tasting will take place in the Acino: a beautiful contemporary architecture hanged on the vineyards, a big round transparent bubble: here wine and panorama are to be tasted simultaneously.

The most beautiful Italian villages: Neive
Orange flag: Neive, Grinzane Cavour
